Porsche 912

Porsche 912 came out a series before the birth of 911. It is sharing the same engine as a 60's Beatles. Very elegent, very porsche, very traditional.

If Porsche will ever redesign this product, I am sure it will be successful in the market.

Versace

For a company, it is tough to think of the identity of the company, it is hard to create the products for the identity, and it is even harder to keep their identity.

Versace, currently running by Donatella Versace with an intelligent craw. In regards to keeping their identity, I think they actually did some amazing jobs.

Here is their Home collection, I really like it, but I am still not able to afford them.

Yet, if you still want to prove your status, please go to Nuovo Collection for purchases.

Milan Kundera - Testaments Betrayed

A Book that ACityOfGold is reading.

Kundera's Writing style and philosophy

Kundera's characters are often explicitly identified as figments of his own imagination. Kundera is more concerned with the words that shape or mould his characters than with the characters' physical appearance. In his non-fiction work, The Art of the Novel, he says that the reader's imagination automatically completes the writer's vision. He as the writer wishes to focus on the essential. For him the essential does not include the physical appearance or even the interior world (the psychological world) of his characters.

François Ricard suggested that Kundera conceives with regard to an overall oeuvre, rather than limiting his ideas to the scope of just one novel at a time. His themes and meta-themes exist across the entire oeuvre. Each new book manifests the latest stage of his personal philosophy. Some of these meta-themes are exile, identity, life beyond the border (beyond love, beyond art, beyond seriousness), history as continual return, and the pleasure of a less "important" life. (Francois Ricard, 2003)

Many of Kundera's characters are intended as expositions of one of these themes at the expense of their fully developed humanity. Specifics in regard to the characters tend to be rather vague. Often, more than one main character is used in a novel, even to the extent of completely discontinuing a character and resuming the plot with a brand new character.

Cai Guo-Qiang - Contemporary Artist

Cai Guo-Qiang was born in 1957 in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China. The son of a historian and painter, Cai was trained in stage design at the Shanghai Drama Institute from 1981 to 1985 and his work has, since the outset, been scholarly and often politically charged. Having accomplished himself across a variety of media, Cai initially began working with gunpowder to foster spontaneity and confront the suppression that he felt from the controlled artistic tradition and social climate in China at the time. While living in Japan from 1986 to 1995, Cai explored the properties of gunpowder in his drawings, an inquiry that eventually led to his experimentation with explosives on a massive scale, and the development of his signature explosion events, exemplified in his series, Projects for Extraterrestrials. These explosion projects, both wildly poetic and ambitious at their core, aim to establish an exchange between viewers and the larger universe around them.

Cai quickly achieved international prominence during his tenure in Japan and his work was shown widely around the world. His approach draws on a wide variety of symbols, narratives, traditions and materials such as feng shui, Chinese medicine, dragons, roller coasters, computers, vending machines and gunpowder. He has been selected as a finalist for the 1996 Hugo Boss Prize and been merited with awards such as The 48th Venice Biennial International Golden Lion Prize and the 2001 CalArts/Alpert Award in the Arts. He has also won awards for Best Exhibition and Best Installation from the International Curators Association. Most recently, Cai was awarded the 7th Hiroshima Art Prize.

Among many of the artist's solo exhibitions and projects are the notable Cai Guo-Qiang on the Roof: Transparent Monument, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2006; curating the first China Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale, 2005; Tornado: Explosion Project for the Festival of China, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C., 2005; Cai Guo-Qiang: Inopportune, Mass MoCA, North Adams, 2005; Cai Guo-Qiang: Traveler, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, and Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., 2004; Organizing and curating BMoCA: Bunker Museum of Contemporary Art, Kinmen, Taiwan, 2004; Light Cycle: Explosion Project for Central Park, New York, 2003; Ye Gong Hao Long: Explosion Project for Tate Modern, Tate Modern, London, 2003, Transient Rainbow, Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2002; Cai Guo-Qiang, Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai, 2002; APEC Cityscape Fireworks Show, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, Shanghai, 2001; Cai Guo-Qiang: An Arbitrary History, Musee d'art Contemporain Lyon, France, 2001; Cultural Melting Bath: Projects for the 20th Century, Queens Museum of Art, Queens, New York, 1997; Flying Dragon in the Heavens, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humblebaek, Denmark, 1997; The Earth Has Its Black Hole Too, Hiroshima, Japan, 1994; and Project to Extend the Great Wall of China by 10,000 Meters, Jiayuguan City, China, 1993.

Through years of artistic practice, Cai has formulated collaborative relationships with specialists and experts from various disciplines, including scientists, doctors, feng shui masters, designers, architects, choreographers, filmmakers and composers, such as Issey Miyake, Rafael Vinoly, Zaha Hadid, Tan Dun and Tsai Ming-liang among others. He is repeatedly listed among the UK journal ArtReview's Power 100.

Cai is currently a core member of the creative team and Art Director of Visual and Special Effects of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. He is also preparing for his large-scale retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in New York with subsequent international venues.

Compagnie Marie Chouinard - Ode to Joy L.I.V.E.

1st Image http://www.mariechouinard.com/
from 2nd Image Photographed by ACityOfGold

In 1978, Marie Chouinard stunned the dance world with her first solo work, Crystallization. Since then she has amassed a body of strikingly original and critically acclaimed works. In 2008, she expands her repertoire again with her latest creation, Ode to Joy L.I.V.E. (provisional title) Making the Festival its first stop, after a Rome debut, Ode to Joy L.I.V.E. comes to Hong Kong as part of a world premiere tour.

Ode to Joy L.I.V.E., as the provisional title suggests, moves with wild, unbridled joy. Inspired by Beethoven's Ode to Joy in Symphony No.9, the choreography is set to an original score by Louis Dufort, Chouinard's collaborator of many years. Performed by her home troupe, Compagnie Marie Chouinard, the work shines with verve and vitality, so don't miss this exciting Asian premiere - and witness the body in motion, in joy.

Marie Chouinard

Winner of the Grand Prix du Conseil des Arts de Montréal, 2007

"A hurricane of unbridled imaginativeness." The New York Times

Marie Chouinard, dubbed 'the queen of avant-garde', is a multi-award winning choreographer, noted for her astonishing innovation and spiritual depth. Also hailed as a 'new artist of the body', her works convey a raw, honest and gritty expression of our human form.

Fascinated by the mysteries of life, ritual, and the poetry of the body, Chouinard believes dance a sacred art and the body a spiritual force to be celebrated. In seeking the underlying mysteries of existence - which she calls the "unknown, primordial wavelength" - she listens "attentively to the vital pulsation of the body", to produce works that reveal the complex, desirous, wild and cerebral nature of our being.
